If you're struggling with bugs biting you, just read if they have hatched in Summer, as they can be annoying (the NoSeeUms) - I wouldn't camp there due to the bugs in the Summer. Worth the hour drive from where I live! It has the most amazing sunsets and gorgeous views over the Wasatch mountains. We also saw many Cayotes and the ice on the waters. The roads are driveable in the snow as they have the snowploughs, and it's worth still driving out to the Old Homestead to see the Bison roaming. In winter it's a totally different landscape with snow on the great salt lake. or hiking to the waters, picknicking at the Old Homestead where the bison roam. In summer it's buzzling with people going to hike Friery Peak etc. Just $10 entrance per car, and once you start crossing the causeway, you enter a different world altogether. Through this old neighborhood and suddenly you get to the Causeway. Dates are based on the Gregorian calendar.You travel on the I15 for a bit and have to know where to turn off as they don't even advertise it widely. We took the first right on Salt Flats road and just headed down the road until there’s no more road to drive on (check out this map). We got off at Exit 4 on I-80 in Utah and headed north. * All times are local time for Salt Lake City. There are a few different points to view the flats, and I would recommend the route we took.
